STRUCTURE allows us to SPRING UP!

So far most of my daffodils have made it safely above ground without the puppy trampling on them! These classically spring flowers just embody the resilient ‘upwards’ energy of this season which is synonymous with the Wood Element from a Five Element perspective in Chinese Medicine. Like a sprout that draws wind, water and light into a coherent stem, the Wood Element symbolises new beginnings, growth and development and new life takes form – we can see all of this wilful determined energy all around us in nature right now - isn't it so wonderful!

THIS IS THE TIME FOR PLANNING AND CREATING NEW STRONG STRUCTURES IN OUR LIVES.

So with this in mind, what can you plan to do nutritionally which will have a positive impact on your health? Here are 3 of my favourites:

🌿 PLAN YOUR DINNERS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD! 🌿

This season is all about creating a structure from which to grow from and thrive on so sitting down and taking some time at the weekend to put a dinner-plan in place should help you achieve a more balanced diet and give you the reassurance that you have a plan to follow for that week.

Already do this? See if you can add in a different dish that will keep things fresh and inspiring. See this vegan, gluten-free Asian Hot Pot which I rate very highly for this time of year! Or maybe you could try substituting one more of your meat-based dinners for a vegetarian night.

As a side note: are you being drawn to sour foods at the moment? That might be because sour foods penetrate the liver and gallbladder, stimulating them and affecting their energy flow. These organs are the organs associated with the Wood Element – they are the planners of the body, so to speak, so if you’re craving sour foods such as lemons, sour plums, yoghurt, pickles or sauerkraut then don’t deny yourself these. Your body is intuitively speaking to you, indicating that these could possibly help balance your own internal energies.

🌿 CLEAN OUT YOUR CUPBOARDS AND YOUR FRIDGE! 🌿

Spring is all about clearing out, moving any stagnation and creating a healthy bright space for new more positive things – both physically in a body-sense but also in your physical environment which, in turn, impacts your mental space.

A clean, heath-conscious kitchen cupboard will inspire you more and support you whilst trying to kick any bad habits! So get rid of those dodgy biscuits and those out of date tins that have been lurking there for far too long! I promise you - have a clean out and you will be able to think more clearly!

🌿 SUPPORT AND PREPARE YOUR LIVER FOR SOME JUICING! 🌿

Some of you might be excited to do a weekend of juicing or be open to trying out a few cleansing juices over the next few months to really inject some pure healing vibes into your life, but do make sure that you lay a strong foundation down first! PREPARATION IS KEY to not only getting the best out of something more drastic like juicing this but also helps avoid too many side-effects. I know I would rather be doing a mini-detox without feeling too grim at the same time! It’s worth looking at a blog I wrote back in October which gives you some tips on being savvy in this respect:

A good plan goes a long way...Natasha x
