Why Autumn is such a Positive Special Time...🍁

Autumn time. A transitional magic time where the palate of nature is softened, moodily smudged and then sprinkled with celestial golds and pinks. You might find yourself just stopping and feeling over-awed at the landscape around you.

If you’ve done this recently, I’m so glad! It means you’ve already tapped into nature and are feeling the greatest force and guide of all, Mother Nature preparing us for change. Don’t let this time pass without truly acknowledging her. It is a time for us to stop and take stock. It is a time of reflection.

Ask yourself: what has worked for you over the summer and what hasn’t? This can be applied to your diet as well as your business, your relationships or your emotional habits. But as I’m a Nutritional Therapist, I’ll ask about your diet!

Did you drink less and feel better for it? Perhaps the stress of Covid-isolation had a negative effect on your overall digestion? Did you manage to eat more organically? Take pen to paper - what were those successes and how did they make you feel?

🙌 CELEBRATION - Celebrate in your heart those small changes you may have made and which will, over time, stand you in good stead! If there are patterns in your diet that you are not so happy about, then acknowledge that. Don’t worry about them though, because this is the perfect time to change course, like the one season moving to the next - you can move from that place to a better place.

This is the time to deepen your practices, your healthy habits and to deepen those resolutions.

Can’t think of any? Here’s some that might inspire you:

🍁I will pay more attention to what my body is trying to tell me

🍁I will eat more slowly

🍁I will plan more of my meals in advance

🍁I will increase my vegetable intake

🍁I will eat more seasonal fruit and vegetables

🍁I will keep caffeine down to a minimum

🍁I will be more grateful for my food

As you pack away the beachwear and pull out the cosy rugs, take this time to decide how you’d like to move forward. It can in fact be a very positive time of year – the colours on the trees are indeed magical but those who feel the magic of autumn most are those who stop, listen, reflect and choose to move forward positively.
